About Me
I am John Griffin, a genealogist, historian, and author from Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan. I have a passion for history, especially military history. This passion stems from the fact that many members of my family have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, including both my parents. I specialize in Canadian military records and research. In addition, I have a passion for current affairs, the study armed conflict and national defence. In 2022 I published my first book, "8th Reconnaissance Regiment (14th Canadian Hussars)" and I currently have two more books in the works. In March 2025 I was a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal for my volunteerism with the Royal Canadian Legion and for helping preserve local and Canadian military history.

What to expect
This blog will feature a variety of posts, from local and Canadian military history to current conflicts and affairs. It will also feature what I call "Soldier Stories", these are short narratives about the experiences of local soldiers that I have researched. It is a way for me to ensure that the individual stories of our veterans are not lost. I believe that it is the personal stories that truly bring remembrance alive.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoy reading my posts and continue to join me on this journey of discovery, research, and remembrance. Feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a line. I always like to hear from my readers.
